National Ballet of Canada: Pinocchio

March 13 – 22, 2026
Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts

Just in time for March break, the timeless story of Pinocchio is brought to life by Will Tuckett’s brilliant choreography and music by Paul Englishby. The production is steeped in Canadiana iconography and references. Audiences are treated to a myriad of visual splendour, from video projections to flying on wires, swimming, driving a car and, of course, Pinocchio’s growing nose! Info here.

dance Immersion: ZAYO

March 13-15, 2026
Meridian Arts Centre, North York

A fusion of dance and theatre that explores themes of identity, purpose and power, Zayo is making its world premiere in Toronto. It follows a heroine on a journey as she leaves the familiar, faces trials and sacrifice, and confronts fear to claim her power. Esie Mensah’s Afrofusion choreography is shaped by lived experience, ancestral knowledge, and contemporary expression, and drawn from traditional and contemporary West African movement, modern dance, and theatrical elements. Info here.

ARC (Actors Repertory Company): A Mirror

March 10-28
918 Bathurst Centre for Culture, Arts, Media & Education

This is the Toronto premiere of British playwright Sam Holcroft’s mischievous and explosive new play, centred around a wedding. A Mirror interrogates censorship, authorship and free speech, with a series of unforgettable twists. Directed by Tamara Vuckovic and featuring a number of ARC Resident Artists. Info here.

Mirvish: Shucked

March 3 – April 5, 2026
Princess of Wales Theatre

Corn dogs, corn chips, corn maze — anyone? This Tony Award–winning musical comedy is making its Canadian debut, starring homegrown talent Danielle Wade as the story’s heroine. Shucked features country-inspired music by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, with a book by Robert Horn. The “farm-to-fable” tale follows a young farm girl’s quest to save her town, whose livelihood is threatened when their corn crop begins to die. This corny and hilarious Broadway hit is sure to please. Info here.

Mirvish: Cyrano

March 14 – April 5, 2026
CAA Theatre

This is the North American premiere of Virginia Gay’s rom-com, reimagined from Edmond Rostand’s 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac, with a queer and gender-flipped lens. The award-winning show has been hailed by Financial Times as “Dazzlingly clever… witty, knowing, satirical and heartfelt all at once.” It stars Eryn-Jean Norv in the titular role. Info here.

Soulpepper: Detroit: Music of the Motor City

March 19 -29
Young Center for the Performing Arts

Following a sold-out run in 2023, this original Soulpepper production by Andrew Penner and Travis Knights is making a comeback. The story is about the collapse and rebirth of Detroit, which created the music that captured the world’s attention: ‘The Sound of Young America.’ The music features the many genres that came out of Detroit including Motown, Jazz, Hip Hop and Detroit Rock. Info here.

City Centre Musical Productions: The Prom

March 13-22
Meadowvale Theatre, Mississauga

It is well worth the drive out to Mississauga to experience high calibre productions of the Encore Series. With music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Bob Martin and Beguelin, based on an original concept by Jack Viertel, The Prom is inspired by real-life events of a high school student banned from bringing her girlfriend to prom. Four eccentric, washed-up Broadway actors descend on the town to help her — and revive their own careers in the process. Info here.
