The Aeolian Singers of Halifax/Kjipuktuk, NS will be celebrating their 50th anniversary season in 2025-26. Along with local concerts, the season will include a trip to Vancouver, and collaborations with local artists and arts organizations throughout the year.
The season for the 42-voice women’s choir kicks off with a concert titled Nocturne on October 18, featuring improvised/circle singing at the Halifax Central Library. A week later, on October 25, the choir will present This Woman’s Work, a concert on October 25 at All Nations Church in Halifax, and in Wolfville on October 26 featuring special guests, mezzo-sopranos Christianne Rushton and Raelyn Davis.
“Members are a kind of family, and over the years we’ve shared many milestones: the joys of babies, weddings, graduations and overcoming health and other challenges; with such a long history, sometimes we’ve sung our own members home at end of life, and honoured others in the community when asked to sing at funerals.
“We’re more than just a women’s choir; we’re a community of women who share our stories through song. As an audience member and former singer said, ‘Music is healing, fun at the end of the day and magical. Thank you!’” comments Aeolian President Krystal Yorke in a statement.

The Aeolian Singers welcome two youth choirs from the Halifax Regional Arts program for a celebration of the season.
Recording for Stitch Media’s Lifeline (January 2026)
In the new year, the Aeolians will go into the recording studio for Stitch Media’s immersive project Lifeline, a collaboration with the SS Atlantic Heritage Park Society led by local documentarian and creative director Ariella Pahlke. The project brings to life the tragic 1873 wreck of the SS Atlantic off Nova Scotia’s coast with stories of loss, courage, and community.
Vancouver Bound & Local Events
In May 2026, the Aeolians will join award-winning women’s choir Elektra, for their Tapestry Festival in Vancouver. The same month, the choir will also participate in a joint choral event hosted by Halifax Camerata Singers in Dartmouth, where hundreds of singers will join forces.
The season ends in June 2026 with the June Anniversary concert, Looking Forward, Looking Back on June 13.
The Aeolian Singers
The Aeolian Singers were founded in 1976 with director Claire Wall as a program of Dartmouth Continuing Education. They have since established a reputation for choral excellence, and have toured the UK, Europe, and across Canada.
The Aeolians have commissioned many new pieces of music for women’s voices, and have collaborated with local musicians, dancers, other singers, and many organizations in the community. In addition to live performance, they have recorded several albums, and appeared on the CBC and other media.
