CLASSICAL CHARTZ | Top Ten Classical Music Albums For The Week Of October 15 To 20 2024

classical music composers

Enjoy new music with our classical music chart for this week. Our weekly selections are based on sales numbers and simply what albums we love and think you NEED to hear.

For the complete top 20, tune into Classical Chartz with the New Classical FM’s Mark Wigmore every Saturday from 3-5 p.m.

Max Richter and In A Landscape take the No. 1 spot this week, stepping up from No. 4. Emily D’Angelo’s Freezing holds on to the No. 2 spot, while Jonas Kaufmann and Puccini Love Affairs drop from the top spot to No. 3.

New to the Classical Chartz Top Ten, violinist Augustin Hadelich’s American Road Trip rises from No. 11 last week to snag the No. 7 spot this week. Accompanied by pianist Orion Weiss, Hadelich went on a North American (to be more accurate) tour through 2023. He returns to collaborator Weiss in a recording that celebrates his tenth year of American citizenship with a collection of works by American composers.

The track list combines composers from various eras, and the music bears influences from jazz to Mexican folk. The album includes works by Charles Ives, Jascha Heifetz, Augustin Hadelich , John Adams, Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Amy Beach, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, William Kroll, Manuel Ponce, Stephen Hartke, Daniel Bernard Roumain, Howdy Forrester, Eddie South, and Raimundo Penaforte.

Stephan Moccio’s Legends, Myths & Lavender has been parked on the Chartz in various positions since the week of June 3, 2024. After finally dropping off the Chartz, he re-enters the Top Ten at the No. 10 position. Known largely for his work with A-list pop stars like Celine Dion and Miley Cyrus, the Canadian composer and producer was inspired to return to solo piano music by a trip to the UK in 2020. Legends… is the latest of several albums and singles he’s released of original neoclassical compositions since then. With more than 2 million listeners on Spotify alone, it’s clear he has tapped into a current of appreciation for solo piano music, an instrumental artist in a sea of pop songs.
