The International Music Festival and Competition (IMFC) is open to classical musicians and composers of all ages. Created by Kindred Spirits Orchestra in Toronto, it’s an extension of the organization’s mandate of bringing great music to everyone.
Along with competition, there’s an educational component that can provide invaluable guidance from experienced artists. It’s a chance for students at all levels to participate in the process.
Here are some of the details of this inclusive event. There are two divisions, the Festival and the Competition.
The Festival
- Open to music students and young professionals at all levels, of all countries, nationalities, any age or musical discipline;
- Advanced professional musicians will guide participants in developing their work and musical craft;
- Participants are graded, and will receive a written adjudication;
- The highest marks awarded in each of the categories will earn the winners Gold, Silver and Bronze trophies.
The Competition
The International Music Competition is divided into two sections. The categories are organized under Performing Arts (instruments and voice) and Creative Arts (composition and conducting).
- To participate in the Competition, participants need to show proof of winning a first place, gold medal or equivalent from any local, regional, provincial, national or international festival or competition (including the IMFC).
- Grand, First, Second, and Third prizes will be awarded.
