Award-winning dance troupe CORPUS and the Junction BIA have teamed up to present a series of free dance performances every Saturday from September 3 until December 24. The performances will take place along Dundas Street West in the Junction neighbourhood.
“After the recent success of CORPUS’ performance of The Alpine Merry Sheep Choir (a version of Les moutons) in the Junction, we’re excited to partner with them once again and take this project to new heights,” said Carol Jolly, Executive Director, The Junction BIA in a media release. “By bringing world-renowned street performances to the Junction, we’re continuing to position the Junction as a leading destination for the performing arts, while also increasing foot traffic to help support our local businesses.”
The Shows
Divine Interventions, nominated for three DORA Awards, (outstanding new musical, outstanding musical direction, and Outstanding Original Choreography), is the first show, kicking off the program on Labour Day weekend 2022.
- Divine Interventions (Every Saturday in Sept) — The company gets playful with the ups and downs of the last couple of years, with three goddesses touring the streets of Toronto because they’ve heard the world needs their help.
- Nuit Blanche (Every Saturday in Oct) — Three insomniacs drift into an afternoon of waking dreams and fitful sleep as the audience gets a look into the sleeping subconscious.
- Camping Royale (Every Saturday in Nov) — Queen Sophie-Charlotte and Queen Louise go on an absurdist trip through fairytales and audience interaction in this satire of privilege and colonialism.
- The Alpine Merry Sheep Choir (Every Saturday in Dec) — Talented sheep singing Christmas carols with their beloved shepherd — it’s a CORPUS spin on the classic holiday concert.
Toronto’s CORPUS dance theatre company have made a name for themselves with performances that combine dance, comedy and more — notably their sheep series. CORPUS has toured 38 countries on five continents, giving more than 1,000 performances.

“Following an extensive European tour, we’re thrilled to celebrate our 25th anniversary at home in Toronto and animate city streets with artistic activities for people of all ages to enjoy,” said David Danzon, Artistic Director, CORPUS. “Our goal for each show is to challenge the role of the audience by offering a unique viewing experience and make the ordinary seem extraordinary.”
The company is celebrating their 25th anniversary in Toronto in 2022.
