Today, the National Ballet has announced they will be returning to live performances at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in March as planned.
Following a recent announcement by the Ontario government, venues in the province can reopen on February 21 with a capacity of 50%. They are anticipating that the province will likely lift the capacity limits altogether on March 14.
Due to the new rules, the National Ballet has had to adjust the Spring schedule slightly.
- A Streetcar Named Desire is onstage March 2 – 6 as originally scheduled and will perform to 50% capacity.
- The Winter Season Mixed Programme is now onstage March 9 – 13 and will perform to 50% capacity.
- The Sleeping Beauty is now onstage March 18 – 27 and will perform to total capacity.

Overly optimistic?
It’s groundhog day next week, which is perfect timing, as it is starting to feel just like the film.
Despite a sharp rise in new cases and deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Ontario amid the holidays, cases have been dropping steadily over the past two weeks.
Let’s hope this marks a permanent return of the arts in Ontario and beyond. As many have been saying, the arts sector can’t take much more of this.
