Soundstreams have been working with six composers as part of a unique mentorship opportunity with American composer Sarah Kirkland Snider. This concert is the fruit of their labour. It seems like forever since the TSO has played at Roy Thomson Hall. TSO star baton Gustavo Gimeno returns with a mini-program featuring Bologne’s Symphony in D Major, Dett/arr. Kulesha: “His Song” from In the Bottoms, Brahms’ Serenade No. 1 in D Major, Op. 11. It’s both free and online. IRCPA has a long history of supporting new opera singers in Toronto, especially with helpful annual workshops. This year they are showcasing ten singers who will perform arias online from the studio of The New Classical 96.3 FM. Sure, the KWS is only doing an online season this year, but they have plenty to offer. This Friday, virtuoso pianist Michael Kaeshammer will bring the sounds of New Orleans to Centre In The Square in Kitchener-Waterloo. The program looks like fun with plenty of classics from the Big Easy: The Saints Go Marching In, St. James Infirmary, and The Basin Street Blues. | Details
Royal Conservatory of Music | Season Gala: Follies in Concert

If you can afford it, this is well worth the splurge. RCM’s annual Gala is unique this year with an exceptional in-concert performance of Stephen Sondheim’s Follies directed by Richard Ouzounian. The recent announcement that Ontario’s venues can open to 100% capacity means that newly released tickets are up for grabs. You’ll hear some big voices, including Cynthia Dale, Ma-Anne Dionisio, Eric McCormack, and Marcus Nance. The show repeats Sunday at 3 pm. | Details
