Tafelmusik has announced its full season line-up with nine events launching October 28, 2021.
Despite the possibility of the Ontario government lifting rules preventing large in-person concerts, Tafelmusik has opted to remain with a fully digital season for now.
“Seventeen months have passed since Tafelmusik last performed a live, full-length concert, and we have deeply missed the audience’s physical presence in the hall,” says Executive Director Carol Kehoe. “Today we are committing to presenting a full season of new digital concerts that will be available to Digital Season Passholders and single ticket buyers worldwide, bringing the Tafelmusik experience to a larger audience than ever before. We continue to prepare for the possibility of opening some concerts to the public, when a return to live performance is possible in a way that ensures our patrons’ comfort and safety.”
Concerts will be recorded from Tafelmusik home base in Toronto from Jeanne Lamon Hall, Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre, Massey Hall, or Koerner Hall.

- 40th anniversary of Tafelmusik Chamber Choir
- Return to newly revitalized Massey Hall for Bach’s B-Minor Mass led by conductor Masaaki Suzuki
- Tafelmusik’s debut performance of music by Dvorak directed by Leila Schayegh
- Tafelmusik’s debut performance of Nonet for strings and winds by 19th-century composer Louise Farrenc
- New multimedia program exploring magic and music, created by Marco Cera and magician Nick Wallace
- World premiere of Bach’s Goldberg Variations in an orchestral arrangement by Elisa Citterio
- The Phantom of Goldberg, solo work for harpsichord by Canadian composer Grégoire Jeay, performed by Tafelmusik’s Charlotte Nediger
- Baroque showcase featuring mezzo-soprano Krisztina Szabó
- Christmas concert with selected choruses from Handel’s Messiah; excerpt from Berlioz’s L’enfance du Christ, and more
Digital Season Pass
- Tafelmusik will launch a new Digital Season Pass that invites music lovers to access Tafelmusik on-demand worldwide.
- Passholders will also enjoy priority access to live concert ticket sales, which will be announced later, as public health guidelines allow.
- Single tickets for digital concerts will go on sale approximately three weeks prior to each concert premiere date.
End of an Era
With news of the sudden passing of Tafelmusik’s Music Director Emerita Jeanne Lamon on June 20, 2021, this has been a period of healing for the orchestra and choir. Tafelmusik will be presenting a tribute for the 2022/23 season.
