THE SCOOP | National Ballet’s Karen Kain Gets Her Own Stamp

The National Ballet of Canada has revealed Artistic Director Karen Kain and prominent dancer/choreographer Fernand Nault will be honoured with commemorative stamps.

Canada Post will issue the stamps to honour their extraordinary careers. They will be permanent-rate stamps that currently run 92¢ each. The stamp issue shows a 2020 copyright date, which suggests they were postponed for a year.

“Canadian ballet dancers are revered the world over — and beloved here at home, which is why we’re celebrating the careers of two of our country’s ballet legends,” said Canada Post stamp services director Jim Phillips.

The stamps will be available at post offices across the country on International Dance Day, April 29, 2021.
The image features Karen as the black swan Odile in Swan Lake, a significant role and ballet from her career.
