The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) have announced a special surprise for concert goers looking to brighten up their winter.

The orchestra will perform a free lunchtime concert on Wednesday, February 26 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Roy Thomson Hall.

“With our long winters, February can be a challenging time for Torontonians, so we wanted to bring a bit of musical sunshine to our city to help offer some respite from the grey skies,” said TSO CEO Matthew Loden. “It’s our small way of giving back and thanking everyone for making the TSO part of their lives.”

The concert will be led by Simon Rivard, and includes an eclectic mix of works by Bernstein, Shostakovich, Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky, and Danny Elfman.

Seventeen-year-old Eugene Ye, winner of the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition, will make his TSO debut an appearance with Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1.

Free tickets are available February 20 at 10:00am at tso.ca.
