The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra have announced the appointment of Diana Weir as new Executive Director.

Weir’s appointment marks the departure of former Carol Kehoe, who has lead the HPO as Executive Director since 2012.

According to a press release, Kehoe will be departing the orchestra to pursue “a new executive leadership opportunity,” and will work with Weir to ensure a smooth transition into her new executive role.

Borm in Markham Ontario, Weir was Executive Director of the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (2010–2013), and Programming Coordinator, Education and Outreach at the Canadian Opera Company between 2010 and 2013. She was worked as Director of Communications and Development at the HPO since 2013. Weir holds degrees in Communications Management and Music through McMaster University-Syracuse University.

“I’m honoured to have the opportunity to serve the HPO and our community in this new capacity,” Weir said in a statement. “As an anchor arts organization, the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra has been serving the Greater Hamilton region for generations. The collective efforts of our musicians, board, and staff, along with the support of our patrons, donors, and local citizens is nothing short of inspiring.”

Weir will begin her new post effective January 2, 2017.
