COFFEE BREAK | What’s My Line Seiji Ozawa?

YouTube Poster

Enjoy this video of a very young Seiji Ozawa, appearing on the American television game show, What’s My Line? on July 7, 1963.

This was aired two years before he was appointed as music director of the Toronto Symphony, and just months after members of the Japanese NHK Symphony Orchestra revolted against him over concerns about his unique style and liberal personality.

The clip shows Ozawa stumping guest Woody Allen, and regulars Bennett Cerf, Arlene Francis, and Dorothy Kilgallen on the panel.

“Is it a service that has some entertaining aspects to it?”

“Yes!”

Good fun.
