The idea of a high concept classical music video can be a bit strange for an art mostly consumed live on stage. But this day an age, when a best-selling classical music recording means selling just 500 copies, recording companies are looking to ways to adapt to new listening habits.
It’s no secret YouTube is a major player. What was once a source for silly cat videos is now a media powerhouse that has over the past five years become the primary source of music consumption for teens.

Produced by Archiv Produktion, the video is set in and around a Berlin train station. Dressed in a baroque gown, Soprano Anna Prohaska is a contrast to her modern surroundings, yet the music seems to transcend it completely. She’s not a bad singer either.
Bonus: Another video (again by Deutsche Grammophon) worth noting is Daniel Hope’s heart-on-sleave video to Einaudi’s “I giorni. The production level is high, and the artistic direction impressive. Let’s hope there are more of these high-end videos to come.
