According to a press release issued today, Executive Director Susan Worthington will be leaving her position at Soundstreams to start a new position at Canada’s National Ballet School, as Theatre Operations and Production Manager.

The move comes as a surprise, considering Worthington had recently been appointed to Soundstreams just over a year ago from her role at Stratford Summer Music, in September 2014.

“While we are saddened to see her go, we look forward to Soundstreams’ next chapter, and wish Susan all the best in her new role at Canada’s National Ballet School,” Soundstreams Board Chair Daniel Weinzweig said in a statement.

“It has been my privilege to work with this group of exceptional individuals,” Susan Worthington said. “Together, we have laid the groundwork for engaging new and diverse audiences as well as the development of a regional presentation network which will facilitate the dissemination of Soundstreams’ work beyond its home base in Toronto. I look forward to watching the growth of these initiatives, and to attending Soundstreams events as an audience member.”

The board of directors has hired Searchlight Recruitment to initiate the search process to a new Executive Director. The process will begin this week. Until then, the board has appointed Benjamin Dietschi as Interim General Manager of the company effective January 4. Dietschi has been with Soundstreams since 2013 and was the company’s Associate Director of External Relations.
