COFFEE BREAK | Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier Animated In Neon Lights

We have something a little different today: a unique visual design project that features of an excerpt from Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier animated with neon lights. The project was created by created by director and visual artist Alan Warburton, who set a performance of Bach masterpiece by pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard.

‘I needed to find a way of automating the process of these turning on and off in time with the music,’ says Alan. With no midi file of the performance available, he was faced with the seemingly impossible task of matching every note of a stand-in midi file to the recording, by ear alone.

The result is a walk-through which brings Bach to a whole new virtual level. That, and we think it’s pretty darn mesmerizing!
