The Ontario Philharmonic and music director Marco Parisotto did such excellent work this past season that it’s well worth checking out what they are up to next. They present the first of two Koerner Hall concerts next season on Nov. 5, with cellist Matt Haimovitz playing Schelomo by Ernest Bloch.
The orchestra will also perform Gustav Mahler’s great “Titan” Symphony No. 1 — which is a lot of noise for a recital hall.
The organisation’s Great Soloists series continues with tenor Richard Margison on Dec. 10.
The Ontario Philharmonic has a larger concert series at its home base at Oshawa’s Regent Theatre that includes a Mar. 22 visit by regular Toronto visitor, German-based Chinese pianist Haiou Zhang.
