Add one more item to tonight’s musical buffet in Toronto: Euphonia’s musical junket to Latin America at Lula Lounge, starting at 8 p.m. The salsa picante on this tempting dish is the price of admission: a mere $10 at the door.

Euphonia is Toronto’s newest orchestra, determined to mix up repertoire as well as attitude, by becoming the first-ever orchestra in residence at Lula Lounge on Dundas St W.

Conductor Simon Capet has assembled a talented bunch of players. They arrange themselves on the dancefloor instead of the stage. And the mood is kept light and relaxed.

But the musicmaking was very good at their inaugural Lula date last month.

Tonight’s concert features music by Manuel Ponce, Arturo Márquez, Astor Piazzola, Roberto Valera, Carlos Farinas and Jose Maria Vitier.

It should be a great way to heat up an unseasonably chilly evening.
