Christoper Plummer’s Henry V with the Toronto Symphony was one of finer moments of 2011

If you feel like a break from the hurlyburly of the next 10 days, perhaps you should lose yourself in the hurlyburly of William Shakespeare’s Henry V, gorgeously condensed by Canadian icon Christopher Plummer — and gorgeously set to music by William Walton.

That powerful combination, impressively performed, made for a fine start tothe Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s 90th season. It’s an evening to savour, even if the other two pieces on the programme paled a bit in comparison.

It was one of the finer moments of 2011.
