Praised internationally for her outstanding delivery of operatic repertoire, Canadian soprano Meghan Lindsay continues a diverse practice as a performer, creator, and researcher, while Carson Becke\u2019s interest in bringing to light music from the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries that has \u201cescaped twenty-first century attention\u201d is reflected in their programme, highlighting composers Fernando Obrador, Alexander von Zemlinsky, and Rebecca Clarke. Lindsay and Becke will also be performing Becke\u2019s 2023 piano transcription of Richard Strauss\u2019s Four Last Songs. Written in 1948 \u2013 only months before Strauss\u2019s death \u2013 the sublime music and text explores the relationship between humankind\u2019s mortality and the eternal cycles of nature. With a voice described by OPERA NEWS as a \u201cbright, limpid instrument [with] luscious timbre and superb technique,\u201d this duo is sure to shine.<\/p>\n
