She performs a broad repertoire, from Couperin to\u202fMessiaen, but she\u202fis perhaps known\u202fbest for her\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">interpretations of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Bach. A reviewer in Gramophone magazine greeted her 2012 recording of the \u201cGoldberg\u201d Variations with these words of praise: \u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Beautifully co-ordinated Bach playing, with all voices colourfully defined and spontaneity as a constant virtue. In my view, she has never made a better CD.\u201d\u202f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This magnificent composition is the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">18<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">century\u2019s greatest set of variations. It\u202fwas published<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fin 1741<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0as the final segment of a keyboard collection that Bach entitled\u202f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Clavier\u00fcbung<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(Keyboard Practice). The\u202f<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Aria<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, upon which Bach based its variations, had previously appeared in the notebook that he created for the musical education of his second wife, Anna Magdalena.
