To mark its twentieth season, ATE is currently reviving many of its\u202f<\/span>favourite<\/span>\u202fand most\u202fhighly-praised\u202fprograms, including tributes to Glenn Gould and Lou Reed.\u00a0<\/span>Singer-songwriter<\/span>\u00a0Sarah\u202f<\/span>Slean<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>join<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0them for this<\/span>\u00a0cross-genre<\/span>\u00a0TSM Festival event. Signed to Atlantic\/Warner Records at the tender age of 19, this three-time JUNO nominee and\u00a0<\/span>modern-day Renaissance woman has since released 11 albums in over 10 countries worldwide.\u202fBut\u202fperhaps the most astonishing aspect of her artistry is its breadth. Over her twenty-year career, she has published two volumes of poetry, starred in short films and a movie musical (spawning two Gemini Award nominations), penned two string quartets, held numerous exhibitions of her paintings, and shared the stage with 10 of the country\u2019s professional orchestras. Classically trained from the age of five, she routinely collaborates with cutting-edge contemporary classical ensembles and\u202fhas been invited\u202fto sing world premieres by Canada\u2019s leading living composers.<\/span>\u202f<\/span>A perfect complement to\u00a0Slean\u2019s\u00a0velvety alto is the gritty brilliance of English-Canadian singer-songwriter John Southworth, a\u00a0<\/span>long-time collaborator of\u00a0Slean\u2019s, a\u00a0<\/span>mainstay of the Art of Time Ensemble<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0and a haunting<\/span>ly beautiful<\/span>\u00a0vocal vehicle for these\u00a0<\/span>unique\u00a0<\/span>crossover arrangements of classical masterworks.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
