Seen and Unseen worlds collide as Tsianina appears to William, the two learning from each other as he makes a decision about his future as an artist. Combining humour, biography, and contemporary opera, this interdisciplinary work explores the tension between representation, inspiration and cultural appropriation.

I Call myself Princess is inspired by, and features music from, Shanewis: The Robin Woman, the real opera about Tsianina Redfeather composed by her creative partner Charles Wakefield Cadman, an American composer in the early 1900’s who was part of a musical movement using Indigenous music to create a distinct North American musical identity.

Show Run Time: Approximately 120 minutes with one 15 minute intermission.

CREATIVE TEAM

Associate Director Keith Barker
Set & Props Designer Christine Urquhart
Costume Designer Snezana Pesic
Lighting Designer Kaitlin Hickey
Sound Designer Marc Meriläinen
Production Manager Suzie Balogh
Stage Manager Laura Baxter
Apprentice Stage Manager Lisa Nasson

SCHEDULE
Tuesdays – Saturdays at 8 pm
Sundays at 2 pm

PREVIEWS
Sunday, September 9 at 2 pm
Tuesday, September 11 at 8 pm | PWYC
Wednesday, September 12 at 8 pm

AUDIO DESCRIBED PERFORMANCE
Friday, September 21 at 8 pm

RELAXED PERFORMANCE
Thursday, September 27 at 8 pm

TICKETS*
Regular | $30
Students, Seniors, Arts Workers | $25
Tuesdays | PWYC

PREVIEW Regular | $20
PREVIEW Students, Seniors, Arts Workers | $15

I CALL MYSELF PRINCESS A PAPER CANOE PROJECTS AND CAHOOTS THEATRE PRODUCTION IN ASSOCIATION WITH NATIVE EARTH Written by Jani Lauzon Director & Dramaturgy: Marjorie Chan Musical Director: Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate Performed by Courtney Ch’ng Lancaster, Howard Davis, Richard Greenblatt, Marion Newman, and Aaron M.
