For the past six months, we have been working on revitalizing our local channels in Toronto and Montr\u00e9al. We have also been thinking about how we can develop our focus on providing a reliable voice to our community at a time when things feel like they are constantly\u00a0under threat<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We are starting off with investing in our team to ensure we have the talent we need to deliver coverage Toronto can depend on. We are thankful to get a lot of requests from people wanting to write for us and always looking for new talent.<\/p>\n

This year, we are working hard to expand our reach with our\u00a0weekly newsletter<\/a>, bringing you a curated look at what’s happening. The newsletter is growing quickly with a fresh, entertaining approach to classical music news. It’s free (for now), so\u00a0subscribe<\/a>\u00a0while you can!<\/p>\n

Today, we’re thrilled to announce our new Toronto city editor, Anya Wassenberg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“For the past six years, the\u00a0Ludwig Van\u00a0has been an important part of our community, breaking major arts stories and ensuring classical music gets the attention it deserves. We’re excited for this new era at\u00a0Ludwig Van’s flagship Toronto HQ, and welcome Anya at the helm,” says Michael Vincent, founder and Editor-in-chief of Ludwig Van. “Toronto is filled with strong, vibrant, and talented individuals wanting to build this city’s arts scene into a more connected, thriving community. There’s boundless opportunity ahead, and now is the moment to aim for the stars.”<\/p>\n

Calling Hamilton, Ontario home, Anya brings years of experience in arts writing and media. Her credits include\u00a0Nuvo Magazine,\u00a0National Post, the Hamilton Spectator, id Magazine,\u00a0Huffington Post,\u00a0ARTSbeat Magazine and many others. An expert in all things Toronto, she has written two guidebooks,\u00a0Fun Seeker’s Toronto<\/a>\u00a0and Toronto Day + Night. She holds a degree from McMaster University and served as a judge for the\u00a0East Coast Music Awards.<\/p>\n

“In an era when arts reporting is diminishing or disappearing overall, it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to offer expanded coverage of Toronto’s classical music and performing arts scene,” said Anya Wassenberg. “Arts reporting and writing serves such a vital purpose as a bridge between artists, arts organizations, and audiences \u2014 both current and potential \u2014 and in discussing the vital ideas and issues that cultural works bring to light.”<\/p>\n

“We’ve been talking with arts community leaders this year to learn more about the challenges they are facing and how we can better help the public stay informed and active,” said Vincent. “With Anya on the team, we can work towards our goal to create a new standard of arts coverage that Toronto deserves.”<\/p>\n

So what does this mean for you, dear reader? In a word, more.<\/p>\n

We’ll still offer the same great classical music, opera, dance and theatre coverage you’ve always expected from us. Except now you can expect much more of it.<\/p>\n
