Instead of offering jukebox hits or earnest indie singer-songwriters, Fionn McCoull’s at University Ave and Adelaide St has turned to art music, becoming a Sunday magnet for classical musicians, their spouses, partners, friends, relatives and groupies.<\/p>\n

Tonight marks the third Classical Social, the brainchild of conductor Simon Capet, who can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday night than with a pint or two while sight-reading through a variety of classical music.<\/p>\n

“There’s a bunch of really great musicians coming out to play,” writes Capet in his most recent Facebook post. “I have a stack of really interesting music including, brass quintets, wind ensemble music, string quartets to octets and plenty of mixed ensemble pieces.”<\/p>\n

A new twist tonight is the presence of the Blythwood Winds, who will present a teaser of an upcoming concert programme at 8 p.m. But there’s nothing about a formal concert experience here. The gathering starts at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
