U of T Opera: A Tale of Two Cities<\/h3>\n

Thursday March 9 at 7:30 p.m. (repeats Friday March 10 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday March 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday March 12 at 2:30 p.m.). MacMillan Theatre, Edward Johnson Building. $40 ($25 seniors, $10 students)<\/p>\n

The seldom-seen 1950 opera by Arthur Benjamin \u2014 an Australian-born composer who spent some quality time in both the U.K. and Canada \u2014 is classified as a \u201cromantic melodrama in six scenes.\u201d Kelly Robinson directs and Sandra Horst conducts. Info here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Toronto Consort\/Canticum Trombonorum<\/h3>\n

Friday March 10 at 8 p.m. (repeats Saturday March 11 at 8 p.m.). $72 (senior $65)<\/p>\n

The early music society presents Canticum Trombonorum, a Basel-based ensemble comprising two trombones, voice and continuo that adapts late-Renaissance and early-baroque Italian works for this unusual combination. A stress on settings of the Song of Songs<\/em> is promised. Info here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Trio Arkel\/Alex Liedtke<\/h3>\n

Sunday March 12 at 3 p.m. Jeanne Lamon Hall. $40<\/p>\n

The Toronto ensemble with a guest oboist from the TSO plays Mozart\u2019s three-movement Oboe Quartet<\/em>, Oliver Knussen\u2019s one-movement Cantata <\/em>for oboe and string trio and (sans oboe) Sergei Taneyev\u2019s four-movement String Trio Op. 21<\/em>. Info here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
