Music Toronto\/Angela Cheng<\/h3>\n

Tuesday Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. Jane Mallett Theatre. $47+ (students $10, 18-35 pay your age)<\/p>\n

The veteran Canadian pianist gives her first Music Toronto solo recital in more than 20 years. Standard rep from Haydn (Sonata in C Major Hob. XVI\/50<\/em>), Beethoven (Sonata Op. 110<\/em>) and Chopin (Polonaise-Fantasie Op. 61<\/em> and Ballades Op. 23<\/em> and Op. 52<\/em>). Info here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

U of T\/Remembering John Beckwith<\/h3>\n

Tuesday Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. Walter Hall. Free.<\/p>\n

The Faculty of Music presents a tribute to the late dean, composer, essayist and educator<\/a>. Performances are promised by Soundstreams Choir 21, the New Music Concerts Ensemble, Opus 8, members of the opera school, and soprano Monica Whicher. Info here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Toronto Symphony Orchestra\/Kerem Hasan<\/h3>\n

Wednesday March 1 at 8 p.m. (repeats Thursday March 2 at 8 p.m.). Roy Thomson Hall. $69+<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old British conductor is in charge of a program mixing Britten (Four Sea Interludes<\/em> and Sinfonia da Requiem<\/em>) with Mozart (Symphony No. 35 \u201cHaffner\u201d<\/em>) and a 2018 double bass concerto, Dark with Excessive Bright<\/em>, by the noted American composer Missy Mazzoli. Daniel Taylor\/A Baroque Pasticcio<\/h3>\n

Thursday March 2 at 7 p.m. TD Music Hall. $52 (seniors $29, students $23)<\/p>\n

Daniel Taylor and a coalition of U of T and McGill students mount an 80-minute pastiche of music by Venetians and visitors to Venice, Handel among them. This the first classical act in the 500-seat TD Music Hall adjacent to Massey Hall. Narrator: Ben Heppner. Info here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Sinfonia Toronto\/Sunny Ritter<\/h3>\n

Saturday March 4 at 8 p.m. George Weston Recital Hall. $44 (senior $37, student $17)<\/p>\n

Sunny Ritter, a 13-year-old Viennese phenom, joins the chamber orchestra under Nurhan Arman in Mozart\u2019s Piano Concerto No. 21 K. 467<\/em>. Also on the program are Shostakovich\u2019s String Quartet No. 4<\/em> in an expansion for string orchestra and a new work by Vania Angelova, a Montrealer of Bulgarian origin. RCM\/Dame Imogen Cooper<\/h3>\n

Sunday March 5 at 3 p.m. Koerner Hall. $45+<\/p>\n

The distinguished English pianist plays Liszt\u2019s three Petrarch Sonnets<\/em>, Schubert\u2019s unfinished Sonata in C Major D. 840<\/em> and Beethoven\u2019s Sonatas Op. 109<\/em> and Op. 111<\/em>. Info here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Theatre of Early Music\/Jephtha<\/h3>\n

Sunday March 5 at 7:30 p.m. St. Patrick\u2019s Catholic Church (131 McCaul St.). $20+<\/p>\n

Daniel Taylor again, conducting his own Theatre of Early Music and a squad of Tafelmusik players though Handel\u2019s final oratorio. Tenor Owen McCausland takes the title role. Info here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
