For more details on what\u2019s happening around Toronto, visit our calendar <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Toronto Symphony Orchestra\/Dalia Stasevska\/Sergei Babayan<\/h3>\n<p>Wednesday Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. at Roy Thomson Hall (repeats Thursday Nov. 24 at 8 p.m., Friday Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday Nov. 26 at 8 p.m.). $35+<\/p>\n<p>The repertoire is more than a little familiar \u2014 Tchaikovsky\u2019s <em>Piano Concerto No. 1<\/em> and <em>Symphony No. 6 \u201cPath\u00e9tique\u201d<\/em> \u2014 but the Ukrainian-born Finnish conductor Dalia Stasevska is an up-and-comer and the Armenian-American pianist Sergei Babayan is an underrated powerhouse. The program is completed by <em>Birds of Paradise II<\/em>, a compendium of birdsong by the Swedish composer Andrea Torrodi. MacMillan Theatre. $40 (seniors $25; students $10)<\/p>\n<p>The opera school mounts a bound-to-amuse triple bill of Hindemith\u2019s <em>Hin und Z\u00fcruck<\/em>, Offenbach\u2019s <em>Monsieur Choufleuri<\/em> and Douglas Moore\u2019s<em> Gallantry<\/em>. Michael Patrick Albano directs and the equally reliable Sandra Horst conducts. How are the kids in the cast? Only one way to find out. Conservatory student Chelsea Ahn is soloist. Jeanne Lamon Hall. $25+<\/p>\n<p>A program focusing on music dedicated to the Virgin Mary features Charpentier\u2019s substantial <em>Missa Assumpta est Maria<\/em> as its main event. Poulenc also is promised, along with a premiere by the Canadian composer Tawnie Olson. France, Spain, England and India are represented.
