Petrowska Quilico will receive the honour from Her Honour Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Ontario Lieutenant Governor and Chancellor of The Order of Ontario in a ceremony on November 21.<\/p>\n<p>The official <a href=\"https:\/\/news.ontario.ca\/en\/release\/1002448\/ontario-celebrates-2021-order-of-ontario-appointees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media release<\/a> describes the recognition. \u201cThe Order of Ontario recognizes exceptional leaders from all walks of life and diverse fields of endeavour whose impact and lasting legacy have played an important role in building a stronger province, country and world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Petrowska Quilico is the only musician among the 24 appointees for 2021. The official list of appointees cites her work. \u201cPianist Christina Petrowska Quilico has opened the ears of music lovers internationally through numerous classical and contemporary performances, with an orchestra and as soloist on over 50 internationally acclaimed recordings.\u201d She is also Professor of Musicology and Piano at York University, and founded The Christina and Louis Quilico Award at the Ontario Arts Foundation and Canadian Opera Company.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4bPUUswFHsE?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<h3>Among other accolades&#8230;<\/h3>\n<p>The Order of Ontario is one of a string of accolades and recognition for Petrowska Quilico in recent years.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In 2021, became a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada;<\/li>\n<li>In 2020, named an Order of Canada appointee (postponed during the pandemic, that award will be given on December 14 in Ottawa);<\/li>\n<li>Research Awards in 2021 and 2022 from York University, where she is Professor Emerita, Senior Scholar, after having been Professor of Piano and Musicology in the School of the Arts, Media, Performance &amp; Design since 1987.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Her work will be featured in two upcoming recordings from the Canadian Music Centre\u2019s Centrediscs label in 2023<\/p>\n<p>The honour is well deserved.
