They will include the entire corps of Artists of Atelier Ballet, with choreography by <strong>Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg<\/strong>, coupled with the renowned <strong>Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra<\/strong>, with music direction by <strong>David Fallis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Dido And Aeneas<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Based on Virgil\u2019s epic poem <em>The Aeneid<\/em>, Purcell\u2019s iconic <em>Dido And Aeneas<\/em> tells the story of Dido, the widowed Queen of Carthage. She embarks on a blatant affair with the mesmerizing Trojan prince, Aeneas. But, when he abandons her, she bravely embraces her one alternative to a life of humiliation and regret. Heavy stuff!<\/p>\n<p>The production includes several familiar Opera Atelier alumni, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Soprano <strong>Meghan Lindsay<\/strong> and tenor <strong>Colin Ainsworth<\/strong> portray ill-fated lovers<\/li>\n<li><strong>Measha Brueggergosman-Lee<\/strong> plays the desperately wicked Sorceress<\/li>\n<li>Soprano <strong>Melody Louledjian<\/strong> makes her company debut as Belinda<\/li>\n<li>Tenor <strong>Spencer Britten<\/strong>, soprano Cynthia <strong>Akemi Smithers<\/strong>, mezzo-soprano <strong>Danielle MacMillan<\/strong>, and the Artists of Atelier Ballet round out the cast<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>The Resurrection<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>One of Handel\u2019s most famous works, the oratorio transports you to a time when hope was reborn in the face of death and despair.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only is the production a feast for the senses \u2014 from the impressive set design to the inspired choreography and thrilling score \u2014 it is also a moving tribute to the universal story of sacrifice and redemption, as embodied by a heroic protagonist,\u201d says Marshall Pynkoski.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Soprano <strong>Carla Huhtanen<\/strong> portrays the Angel in <em>The Resurrection<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Bass-baritone <strong>Douglas Williams<\/strong> will play Lucifer<\/li>\n<li>Tenor <strong>Colin Ainsworth<\/strong>, <strong>Meghan Lindsay<\/strong>, and <strong>Allyson McHardy<\/strong> perform the roles of St. John, Mary Magdalene, and Cleophas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>What we\u2019re looking forward to most\u2026\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u2026The final aria from Purcell&#8217;s<em> Dido and Aeneas<\/em>, \u201cDido&#8217;s Lament\u201d.
