If you’re still standing after the deluge of season announcements this week, then here’s one more to look forward to: Opera Atelier<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The 2022-23 Opera Atelier season centres around two heavy hitters: Purcell\u2019s Dido and Aeneas<\/em><\/strong> (October 20\u201323, 2022) and Handel\u2019s The Resurrection<\/em> (April 6\u20139).<\/p>\n

Co-Artistic Director Marshall Pynkoski<\/strong> will direct both productions. They will include the entire corps of Artists of Atelier Ballet, with choreography by Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg<\/strong>, coupled with the renowned Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra<\/strong>, with music direction by David Fallis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Dido And Aeneas<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Based on Virgil\u2019s epic poem The Aeneid<\/em>, Purcell\u2019s iconic Dido And Aeneas<\/em> tells the story of Dido, the widowed Queen of Carthage. She embarks on a blatant affair with the mesmerizing Trojan prince, Aeneas. But, when he abandons her, she bravely embraces her one alternative to a life of humiliation and regret. Heavy stuff!<\/p>\n
