Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Toronto, Montreal, or Halifax maybe?<\/p>\n<p>According to data collected in 2021 from SOCAN, Toronto holds the top spot for new music creators in Canada. In particular, the Dufferin-Dovercourt Village neighbourhood (postal code prefix M6H) located in the west side of Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s the rest of the list that perhaps holds the most insight.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Canada\u2019s Fastest-growing Centres of Music Creation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Dufferin-Dovercourt Village, Toronto (postal code prefix M6H)<\/li>\n<li>Brampton North, Ontario (L6P)<\/li>\n<li>Downtown Toronto CN Tower\/King &amp; Spadina\/Harbourfront West\/Bathurst Quay (M5V)<\/li>\n<li>Brampton West, Ontario (L7A)<\/li>\n<li>Outremont, Montr\u00e9al (H2V)<\/li>\n<li>Brampton Northwest, Ontario (L6R)<\/li>\n<li>Brockton-Parkdale Village\/Exhibition Place, Toronto (M6K)<\/li>\n<li>Hochelaga, Montr\u00e9al (H1W)<\/li>\n<li>Centre-Sud North, Montr\u00e9al (H2K)<\/li>\n<li>Petite-Patrie Southwest, Montr\u00e9al (H2S)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><strong>Why it matters<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The report comes just months after the Canadian government introduced the Online Streaming Act, which aims to modernise the country&#8217;s outmoded regulations around Canadian Content, including music.<\/p>\n<p>The list shows that the fastest growing centres are now located in mostly suburban areas surrounding Canada\u2019s largest cities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCanada\u2019s songwriters and composers are your next-door neighbours,\u201d said SOCAN CEO Jennifer Brown. \u201cThey live and work among all of us, helping to drive our economy with their incredible talent.
