These courageous artists and the Russian people are not the subject of the Council’s actions.”

Those whose projects have been affected are encouraged to contact the CCA directly.

“We understand these sanctions to have unfortunate consequences for certain Canadian artists and artistic organizations and that the citizens of Russia and Belarus will also be penalized. This is the burden of the unprecedented sanctions of the international community,” Brault writes.

#LUDWIGVAN

Get the daily arts news straight to your inbox.

Sign up for the Ludwig van Daily — classical music and opera in five minutes or less HERE.

The Canada Council for the Arts has announced a hold on funding for any projects with direct ties to Russia, in response to the ongoing military invasion of Ukraine.

[39907,39
39986,4568
7765,10459,14385,7070,8765,19057,36115,8294,12081,20384

https://www.ludwig-van.com/toronto/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/03/Canada_Council_For_The_Arts.jpg
