(Sorry &#8211; couldn&#8217;t resist)<\/p>\n<p>The Toronto Bach Festival will be returning to in-person concerts this May with four concerts including leading performers from Canada\u2019s baroque scene, in addition to international star John Butt.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What\u2019s new this year?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The festival opens with the <strong><em>Brandenburg Concerto No. 1<\/em><\/strong> and <em>Orchestral Suite No. 3<\/em>, with the famous &#8220;Air on the G String&#8221; movement<\/li>\n<li>Closes with Bach\u2019s iconic<strong><em> Easter Oratorio<\/em><\/strong>, as well as the <em>Ascension Oratorio<\/em> with choir and orchestra<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>debut of renowned international harpsichordist<\/strong> <strong>John Butt<\/strong>, one of the foremost Bach interpreters of our time. Butt will conduct the Festival closing performance of <em>Easter Oratorio<\/em>, and also give a special <strong>Noon-Hour Organ Recital<\/strong> at the beautiful venue of <strong>St. Andrew\u2019s Church<\/strong> in downtown Toronto<\/li>\n<li>Vocal soloists include <strong>Ellen McAteer<\/strong>, <strong>Daniel Taylor<\/strong>, <strong>Charles Daniels<\/strong>, and <strong>Jonathon Adams<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>All six of Bach\u2019s virtuosic<strong><em> Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin<\/em><\/strong> will be performed<\/li>\n<li>The majority of concerts are in the east end of Toronto at <strong>Eastminster United Church<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Been a while<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Since its first season in 2016, the festival gradually grew in popularity with early music lovers in the city. That was until two years of pandemic cancellations meant they had to press pause for a while. It\u2019s so lovely to see them Bach! (OMG!
