Announced today, the\u00a0National Youth Orchestra of Canada<\/a> will call Queen\u2019s University in Kingston, Ontario home this summer for their 62nd season.<\/p>\n

The announcement follows a national call for proposals from venues to house the NYO Canada for their annual residency between June 19 \u00ad\u2013 July 20, 2022.<\/p>\n

Queen\u2019s University at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts (\u201cthe Isabel\u201d) and the DAN School of Drama and Music\u2019s Harrison-LeCaine Hall landed on top.<\/p>\n

\u201cQueen\u2019s was a fantastic partner for more than a decade, and we look forward to returning to the campus that has since added the stunning Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts<\/a>, a hub of artistic ingenuity that continued its mandate even amidst a worldwide pandemic,\u201d said NYO Canada President & CEO\u00a0Barbara Smith.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been nearly two decades since NYO Canada was last a resident at Queen’s University \u2014\u00a0long before the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts opened. Since they have made stops in Kingston as part of the Kingston orchestras’ Frenergy Tour<\/a>, the Isabel’s Virtuosi Festival, the Isabel held a concert featuring the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and the European Union Youth Orchestra on November 13, 2019.<\/p>\n

    The bridge between student and professional<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Going into their 62nd season, NYO Canada is Canada\u2019s preeminent orchestral summer program, providing a comprehensive to Canada\u2019s classical musicians aged 16 to 28.<\/p>\n
