\"RCM-Colin_Clarke\"<\/p>\n

It\u2019s only been a few months since the RCM announced<\/a> that the Royal Conservatory School would be renamed the Oscar Peterson School of Music.<\/p>\n

Today, RCM has announced that Oakville-based conductor Colin Clarke has been appointed the first Artistic Director of the Oscar Peterson Program at the Oscar Peterson School of Music.<\/p>\n

Clarke will provide artistic direction to the new program that aims to provide comprehensive musical training, tuition-free, for young people in underserved communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so excited about joining the Oscar Peterson School and developing the new Oscar Peterson Program,\u201d said Clarke in a statement. \u201cI\u2019ve dedicated my career to connecting with communities through music and music education, and I cannot express enough my delight in having the opportunity to be able to continue this work with The Royal Conservatory.\u201d<\/p>\n

Is it a good fit?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As founder and Artistic Director of the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra, Clarke is a well-known ambassador for music in Ontario.<\/p>\n

He currently serves as artistic director and conductor of the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra. Before that, he led the National Youth Band of Canada. As a popular guest conductor, he has also led events with several orchestras and choirs, including the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, the Canadian Brass, and the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra.<\/p>\n

When does the Oscar Peterson Program launch?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

RCM will kick off the Oscar Peterson Program in the fall of 2022.<\/p>\n
