We can\u2019t say we are surprised as Ontario\u2019s performing arts presenters grapple with the consequences of shutting down venues with no promises for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Canadian Opera Company<\/strong>\u00a0has confirmed today that they are cancelling all live-audience performances of Puccini\u2019s\u00a0Madama Butterfly<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The upside is that this applies to in-person performances only. If you’re a 2021\/2022 COC membership holder<\/a>, you’ll be able to see a free digital presentation of the production.<\/p>\n

The production had been slated to run from\u00a0February 4 \u2013 25, 2022<\/strong>,\u00a0at the\u00a0Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s clear that cancelling in-person performances is the most responsible course of action at this time,\u201d said\u00a0COC General Director Perryn Leech<\/strong>. \u201cThe safety of our audiences, artists, and staff remains our absolute top priority. However, thanks to newly-installed recording and broadcast equipment, our cast and creative teams will still be able to share their hard work and talents with subscribers in a safe, at-home viewing experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

What If I have a ticket already?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

You have four options:<\/p>\n
