{"id":73682,"date":"2022-01-06T11:44:57","date_gmt":"2022-01-06T16:44:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/?p=73682"},"modified":"2022-01-06T13:54:25","modified_gmt":"2022-01-06T18:54:25","slug":"scoop-opera-canada-names-2021-2022-artist-fellowship-mentorship-participants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/2022\/01\/06\/scoop-opera-canada-names-2021-2022-artist-fellowship-mentorship-participants\/","title":{"rendered":"THE SCOOP | Opera In Canada Names 2021-2022 Artist Fellowship And Mentorship Participants"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_73683\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-73683\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-73683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/01\/Opera_In_Canada-2021-2022____Artist_Fellowship_And_Mentorship.jpg\" alt=\"Photo courtesy of Association for Opera in Canada\" width=\"1200\" height=\"628\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-73683\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo courtesy of Association for Opera in Canada<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The second cohort of the RBC Artist Fellowship and Mentorship Program has been announced by the Association for Opera in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>The list of hopefuls just announced includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opera.ca\/rbc-artist-fellows-2021-2022-cohort\/#\/action\/Alpha\/value\/ALL\/cid\/1591\/id\/1011301\/listingType\/A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">20 artists<\/a> from across Canada.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>So what is it?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The program looks to help give rising artists a platform for exploration and skill development, as well as mentorship.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What\u2019s in store?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The artists will work with ten early-career artist Fellows and ten mid-career artist Mentors from all aspects of opera.<\/li>\n<li>Fellows will be mentored one-on-one, engage in group seminars and training sessions, get life\/career counselling, and receive specialised professional development training as well as networking opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>The goal of this program is to encourage growth, establish relationships, and start a conversation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>The bigger picture<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With opera houses opening and closing like yo-yo\u2019s, some artists working in opera (especially singers) have been turning to career development programs to fill the gap.<\/p>\n<p>Others have chosen to travel to more opera-friendly cities in Europe such as Vienna, Austria.
