Vocal music lovers have something to celebrate this week with the start of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s season \u2014 in-person with their new conductor Jean-S\u00e9bastien Vall\u00e9e. You’ll hear Nathaniel Dett’s The Chariot Jubilee<\/em> and Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem<\/em>. The TMC will be joined by members from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Jonelle Sills (soprano), and Brett Polegato (baritone). The innovative folks at Confluence Concerts present their final instalment of a three-part deep dive into Bach’s Cello Suites. Tonight’s show features the sections of the cello suites played on instruments other than the cello. Andrew Downing will play Suite No. 2 on the double bass, and\u00a0Ryan Davis will play Suite No. 5 on the viola. RCM’s The Glenn Gould School presents a student-led production of Ana Sokolovi\u0107’s Svadba (Wedding)<\/em> for six female voices a cappella, and occasional percussion accompaniment. Since its premiere in Toronto back on June 24, 2011, Svadba<\/em> has toured throughout Canada and Europe. It was also a major hit with audiences at the Opera de Montreal in 2018.
