Announced today, Live Nation has partnered with Toronto rapper Drake to open History, a new 2,500-seat concert venue.<\/p>\n
Located at 1663 Queen Street East, the venue will be open for up to 200 concerts, galas, and community events annually. The venue includes a convertible general admission area as well as reserved seating configurations.<\/p>\n
It takes guts to open a live music venue during a pandemic:<\/strong> \u201cSome of my most memorable shows were playing smaller rooms like History (and) I wanted to take those memories and what I learned to create an incredible experience for both the artists and the fans,\u201d said Drake in a press release statement.<\/p>\n Live Nation executives Michael Rapino and Riley O\u2019Connor said they saw the venue as a good opportunity, and thanked Drake for helping make the new venue become a reality.<\/p>\n \u201cHistory will provide guests with unrivalled up-close experiences with their favourite artists in Toronto,\u201d said O\u2019Connor. \u201c\u2026We take pride in and expect History to become an important part of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n The venue will be the second new venue within the 2,500 seat range. Last winter Massey Hall announced they would be expanding<\/a> the ongoing revitalization project to become a multi-stage music complex.<\/p>\n Timing is everything:<\/strong> The announcement of the joint venture on Tuesday comes ahead of Ontario\u2019s planned re-opening as the province moved towards gradually opening lockdown restrictions, including the opening of the city\u2019s cultural venues.<\/p>\n History plans to open on Oct. 22, 2021 with a concert by the rock band All Time Low.<\/p>\n#LUDWIGVAN<\/b><\/em><\/h3>\n
