\"Opus_Prize\"<\/p>\n

While sports fans were busy watching the Super Bowl Sunday spectacle, Queb\u00e9c’s classical music community gathered to celebrate their own at the 24th annual Opus Prize Gala via the Conseil qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois de la musique broadcast from Montr\u00e9al’s Bourgie Hall.<\/p>\n

Due to pandemic restrictions, the gala was all virtual format this year, making it accessible for the first time to the general public.<\/p>\n

Hosted by the tenor\u00a0Marc Hervieux<\/strong>, the awards ceremony recognized 26 laureates for musical projects this past season. Thanks to the magic of the editing, the online format made it possible to keep speeches short and include special interview segments with winners conducted by\u00a0Catherine Perrin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A few musical performances were also on the menu, including Karina Gauvin<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Marie-Nicole Lemieux<\/strong> performing an emotional rendition of the famous \u2018Flower Duet\u2019 from Delibes’ Lakm\u00e9<\/em>, accompanied on the piano by\u00a0Olivier Godin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“We can all be proud of the music professionals of Queb\u00e9c, who demonstrate exceptional competence within their discipline, while bringing us hope and comfort in this singular period in our history,” said Nathalie Roy<\/strong>, Minister of Culture and Communications. [\u2026] “Well done to all the award winners and thank you for bringing the magic of music back to life in each work, each composition, and in each performance”.<\/p>\n

Concert of the Year – Classical, romantic, post-romantic, impressionist music<\/strong>: Joyce DiDonato & Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin, Orchestre M\u00e9tropolitain, Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin, conductor, Joyce DiDonato, mezzo-soprano, November 19, 2019.<\/p>\n
