Kristyn Wong-Tam, members of the West Don Lands Committee, and the St. Lawrence Community Association.<\/p>\n<p>The province has responded to the notice agreeing to pause the demolition, calling it a &#8220;good faith measure towards the City of Toronto&#8221; until the Court can address the case later this week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/richard680news\/status\/1352717060133023747\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-70203\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/Richard-Southern-Tweet-Jan-22-2021.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1419\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/Richard-Southern-Tweet-Jan-22-2021.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/Richard-Southern-Tweet-Jan-22-2021-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/Richard-Southern-Tweet-Jan-22-2021-577x1024.jpg 577w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/Richard-Southern-Tweet-Jan-22-2021-768x1362.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Foundry buildings located at 153-185 Eastern Avenue are currently being considered by the International Resource Centre for Performing Artists (IRCPA) and the Corktown Residents and Business Association as a potential location for a new <a href=\"https:\/\/ircpa.net\/the-foundry\/\">music and community Hub<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The IRCPA had been approximately halfway towards completing a two-year feasibility study for the property before Minister Steve Clark issued a rare Minister&#8217;s Zoning Order (MZO) that allowed the province to bypass environmental development regulations and community input. The province states they issued the MZO to fast track the development of the site for low-income housing.<\/p>\n<p>The move has raised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/2021\/01\/20\/scoop-outrage-ontario-begins-demolition-planned-community-music-hub\/\">the ire<\/a> of the community, including an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/save-the-foundry-respect-local-planning?utm_medium=copy_link&amp;utm_source=customer&amp;utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet\">online fund<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/doug-ford-save-the-foundry-respect-local-planning?utm_source=share_petition&amp;utm_medium=custom_url&amp;recruited_by_id=1ca8b7ec-0376-4dda-ad9c-4dc0cf26ecbb\">petition<\/a>. Over the past week, protestors have been present at the Foundry site and, in some cases, prevented workers from entering the worksite.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kristynwongtam\/status\/1352730620653400065\">via Twitter<\/a>, Cllr. Kristyn Wong-Tam acknowledged Minister Steve Clark&#8217;s decision to temporarily pause the demolition, stating, &#8220;[a] true act of good faith will be to cancel the demolition and immediately consult [with] community and city.
