A gifted choral conductor and sought-after teacher, Taylor has travelled around the world giving workshops, masterclasses and recitals. Taylor currently serves as Director of the Historical Performance Area of the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>Rideau Hall described Taylor as \u201cone of our country\u2019s most celebrated cultural ambassadors, distinguishing himself with moving performances and known for his warmth and humour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s announcements also includes other esteemed musicians and arts leaders, including <strong>Art Bergmann<\/strong> for his contributions to the Canadian punk rock music scene in the late 1970s, and composer <strong>Brian Cherney<\/strong> for his lifelong devotion to Canadian music as an internationally renowned composer, educator and scholar. Well-known champion for the arts in Nova Scotia <strong>Barbara Elizabeth Butler<\/strong> was named for her contributions to the musical landscape of Nova Scotia, notably through her promotion of numerous concert series across the province, and Montreal\u2019s <strong>Michel Cusson<\/strong> for his role in the evolution of jazz across Canada and for contributions to the entertainment industry. Saskatoon\u2019s <strong>Gary Gullickson<\/strong> has also been appointed for advancing the music and arts communities in Saskatoon, as a renowned choir director and educator.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment to the Order of Canada represents the highest civilian honour in the country.
