Update:<\/strong> Toronto Police now report that the violin has been recovered. Details<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The Toronto Police have updated the investigation of a lost Lorenzo-Carcassi 1757 Concert violin<\/a><\/span> on the TTC as a possible theft.<\/p>\n

Originally reported on Sunday<\/a><\/span>, the owner first notice the instrument went missing after exiting Toronto\u2019s St. Clair station on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at approximately 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Investigators have released two security camera images of a suspect they want to identify.<\/p>\n

The suspect was last seen on Friday, December 18, 2020, exiting Dufferin Station with the violin on his back. He was also seen the next day in the subway.<\/p>\n

The man is in his 50s, and is seen wearing a grey winter jacket, blue jeans and a white toque.<\/p>\n

Investigators from 13 Division are asking for anyone who recognised the man or the violin, to contact them.<\/p>\n

According to the Toronto Star<\/a><\/span>, the violin was owed by a university student, and professional musician.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s my life,\u201d the owner stated on Sunday. \u201cIt\u2019s how I pay my rent, it\u2019s how I pay for my groceries, and even how I sometimes support my family. It\u2019s my worst nightmare come true.\u201d<\/p>\n

The owner is hoping the violin will be returned before the holidays.<\/p>\n
