The COC is already highly respected on the world stage, and I am eager to get started with the outstanding group of creative talents that make up this wonderful company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of his 36-year career, Leech has worked with the English National Opera, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Glyndebourne Festival, and most recently as Managing Director of\u00a0Houston Grand Opera (HGO). He first joined the HGO in 2007 and was later appointed Managing Director in 2011. Leech has overseen the creation of a new strategic plan and successfully led\u00a0the company\u00a0through Hurricane Harvey&#8217;s devastating impact in 2017, including the creation of Resilience Theater, an alternate performance venue for the HGO.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/h5sTqDa5NdY?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>\u201cPerryn holds a unique understanding of the full spectrum of the performing arts industry,\u201d said Neef. \u201cHis comprehensive experience will be a tremendous asset to the Canadian Opera Company\u2019s artistic, community, and development goals, and I look forward to seeing him start in the role.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerryn\u2019s proven leadership made him a natural choice for this role,\u201d said Jonathan Morgan, Chair of the COC Board of Directors. \u201cHis commitment to artistic excellence, in addition to his creative thinking and tenacity, has led to award-winning programming and an admirable reputation as a leader who brings people together.
