Announced this week, the Slaight Family Foundation has donated $5 million to the seven-year-long Massey Hall Revitalization<\/a> project. The donation tops up the original $5 million donated by the Slaight Family Foundation in 2017, marking a total of $10 million. In appreciation, the Massey Hall stage was named the Allan Slaight Stage and a plaque installed bearing his name in the front lobby.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur family is pleased to know that our father\u2019s legacy will be celebrated in this storied hall where so much musical history has been made and that our donation will have a powerful impact for the future of music in Canada,\u201d said Gary Slaight, President and CEO, The Slaight Family Foundation.<\/p>\n

Massey Hall, a National Historic Site, is currently undergoing a major renovation to the interior and exterior. The project aims to improve patron amenities and accessibility, open two new music venues, expand the scope of the artist development and education and outreach initiatives, and see the return of the original, 126-year-old stained glass windows.<\/p>\n
