Outstanding New Opera went to Tapestry Opera\u2019s <em>Shanawdithit<\/em>. Tapestry\u2019s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/2020\/02\/20\/scrutiny-emotional-power-bravura-performance-tapestry-operas-jacqueline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Jacqueline<\/em><\/a><\/span> also took home a statue for Outstanding Performance by an Individual (Marnie Breckenridge).<\/p>\n<p>Outstanding performance by an Ensemble went to <em>Two Odysseys: Pimooteewin \/ G\u00e1ll\u00e1b\u00e1rtnit<\/em> Co-produced by Soundstreams, Signal Theatre and the S\u00e1mi National Theatre Beaivv\u00e1\u0161.<\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>general theatre division<\/strong>, it was a big night for Soulpepper\u2019s <em>The Brothers Size<\/em> which took home five awards in total, including Outstanding Production in the General Theatre Division. Ken MacKenzie won for Outstanding Scenic\/Projection Design for <em>Almighty Voice and His Wife<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Tarragon Theatre\u2019s<em> Buffoon<\/em> landed two awards for Anosh Irani (Outstanding New Play) and to Anand Rajaram for Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role.<\/p>\n<p><em>Julius Caesar<\/em>, a co-production from The Groundling Theatre Company and Crow&#8217;s Theatre, earned an award for Outstanding Lighting Design.<\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>independent theatre division<\/strong>, Coal Mine Theatre\u2019s <em>Marjorie Prime<\/em>\u00a0won three Dora Awards, and one for <em>Between Riverside and Crazy<\/em> to Alexander Thomas for Outstanding Performance by an Individual to total four awards, leading the division overall.<\/p>\n<p>The Howland Company\u2019s<em> Casimir and Caroline<\/em> saw two Doras: one for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble to Alex Crowther, Hallie Seline, Cameron Laurie, Caroline Toal, Michael Ayres, James Graham, Kimwun Perehinec, Shruti Kothari, Veronica Hortiguela and Michael Chiem; and one for Outstanding Costume Design to Ken MacKenzie.<\/p>\n<p>Keith Barker earned Outstanding New Play for his<em> This Is How We Got Here<\/em>, a Native Earth Performing Arts production.<\/p>\n<p>Further awards in this division go to Melissa Joakim for Outstanding Scenic Design for<em> Prophecy Fog<\/em> (co-produced by The Theatre Centre and Paper Canoe Projects in association with Nightswimming Theatre), and to Adrian Shepherd-Gawinski for Outstanding Sound Design\/Composition for timeshare performance\u2019s <em>Box 4901<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Winners in the <strong>Dance Division<\/strong> included Rock Bottom Movement\u2019s <em>hollow mountain<\/em> and the National Ballet of Canada\u2019s <em>Angels\u2019 Atlas<\/em> (part of its triple bill<em> Angels\u2019 Atlas<\/em> with <em>Chroma<\/em> &amp; <em>Marguerite and Armand<\/em>) with two awards each.<\/p>\n<p>Outstanding Performance by an Individual went to Josh Martin for <em>Leftovers<\/em>, and, Outstanding Original Sound Composition went to composers Eliot Britton and Rick Sacks for <em>AF<\/em> from Red Sky Performance.<\/p>\n<p>The Outstanding Touring Production went to\u00a0<strong><em>Us\/Them<\/em><\/strong> (BRONKS and Richard Jordan Productions with Theatre Royal Plymouth and Big in Belgium presented by <strong>Mirvish Productions<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Congrats to all the winners!<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"western\"><em>#LUDWIGVAN<\/em><\/h3>\n<p class=\"western\"><em>Want more updates on classical music and opera news and reviews?
