Like all summer music festivals hit with the abrupt and widespread closures, Luminato was forced to go back to the\u00a0drawing board<\/a><\/span>\u00a0in hopes of assembling some kind of mark on the 2020 season.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause we are an annual festival, and we appear only once a year in June, we do not have the option that some of our colleagues have of appearing during the fall or just after Christmas,\u201d said Anthony Sargent, CEO of Luminato Festival Toronto in a video announcement<\/a><\/span> today.<\/p>\n

The answer is a mini-three day festival to be held entirely online between June 11 to 13<\/strong>. Virtual programming will be free and streamed directly on Luminato’s\u00a0website<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and social media channels.<\/p>\n

A complete online festival line-up has yet to be announced, but will include artists and thinkers for a mix of live and pre-recorded performances, conversations, panels, DJ sets and participatory programming, as well as highlights from past Luminato Festivals.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will have a lot of the kind of things we expect to see in a Luminato Festival \u2014 an extraordinary range of work from different artforms, different artists, and different kinds of work \u2014 but this new format has also allowed us to do things in a virtual festival that we could never present live, so it will be an exciting mix. It is a first for us and it will be a journey of discovery and adventure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luminato plans to return to a live festival format for their 15th season in the summer of 2021.<\/p>\n
