The\u00a0Canadian Opera Company<\/strong>\u00a0is inviting the public to participate in their first-ever Virtual Choir.<\/p>\n

Led by\u00a0Sandra Horst<\/strong>\u00a0(COC Chorus), singers of all ages and abilities will be guided\u00a0through an online performance of the \u201cAnvil Chorus\u201d from Verdi\u2019s\u00a0Il Trovatore.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cVerdi\u2019s Anvil Chorus is a perfect choice for a wide range of voices and experience levels to sing together,\u201d said\u00a0Horst<\/strong>. \u201cWe are trying to create an engaging way to involve people and give them the opportunity to really let loose and have fun at a time when many of us need an uplifting sense of community [\u2026] Let\u2019s have some fun making music together!\u201d<\/p>\n

Singers will receive video tutorials as well as<\/em>\u00a0a backing track featuring\u00a0COC Ensemble Studio<\/strong>\u00a0soprano\u00a0Anna-Sophie Neher<\/strong>, bass-baritone\u00a0Joel Allison<\/strong>, and pianist\/intern coach\u00a0Rachael Kerr<\/strong>.\u00a0A compilation version to be later shared online<\/em>.\u00a0No previous musical experience is required, and participants are encouraged to be as creative as they like in recording their submissions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to seeing everyone once again, virtually, and having this unique opportunity to connect, while physically apart,\u201d said\u00a0COC General Director Alexander Neef.<\/strong> \u201cWe know that our audiences and local communities have missed being able to take part in the many music workshops we typically host throughout the year, including our popular Chorus Sing-Along event.\u201d<\/p>\n
