2020 M\u00e9c\u00e9nat Musica Prix 3 Femmes Laureates<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Announced this week, the Second edition of the M\u00e9c\u00e9nat Musica Prix 3 Femmes has named the winners of the $50,000<\/strong>\u00a0prize to seed-fund the creation of three new operas by Canadian composers.<\/p>\n

The prize is awarded to female-identifying Canadian composers and librettists excelling in opera.<\/p>\n

The 2020-21 winners are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Sonia Pa\u00e7o-Rocchia<\/strong>, composer (Laurentides QC) and Marie-\u00c8ve Bouchard, librettist (Saint-J\u00e9r\u00f4me QC)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Anna Pidgorna<\/strong>, composer (New Westminster BC) and Maria Reva, librettist (New Westminster BC)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Parisa Sabet<\/strong>, composer (Toronto) and Nika Khanjani, librettist (Montreal)<\/p>\n

Each will create a new opera to premiere in 2021 and receive mentorship and workshops opportunities.<\/p>\n

The operas will be staged as a co-production with Toronto\u2019s Opera 5, Montreal\u2019s Opera McGill, Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de musique contemporaine du Qu\u00e9bec (SMCQ), and Kingston\u2019s Queen\u2019s University Dan School of Music.<\/p>\n

The prizes will be presented at the\u00a0M\u00e9c\u00e9nat Musica<\/a><\/span>\u00a0Gala, Chapelle historique du Bon Pasteur in Montr\u00e9al on Sept. 16, 2020.<\/p>\n
