Montreal based Ad Litteram has acquired the ATMA Classique label in a deal that will go through on April 1, 2020. Guillaume Lombart, founder and president of Ad Litteram, made the announcement today along with Johanne Goyette, founder and president of ATMA Classique.<\/p>\n
The move is good news for any of ATMA Classique<\/strong>‘s existing artists, as the deal stipulates that all current contracts and projects be maintained. The company’s artistic mandate, along with its back catalogue and entire roster of artists, will also make the move to the new umbrella company intact.<\/p>\n Ad Litteram president Lombart has been a music publisher in Montreal for over 25 years, and is co-founder of APEM (Association of Professionals in Music Publishing) in Canada. Founded as a music publisher, the company now provides artist services to the music industry that include music publishing and recording, management, and video production.<\/p>\n \u201cContinuing the exceptional work of Johanne Goyette will be Ad Litteram\u2019s goal, and we will rise to the challenge during this time of major shifts and changes in the ever-evolving music industry. Thanks to our in-house technological capabilities, such as video streaming, combined with the expertise of the ATMA team, we are well equipped to face these new challenges. Likewise, Ad Litteram is looking forward to opening new avenues of collaboration with artists to better respond to their needs,\u201d he commented in a media release.<\/p>\n Goyette founded the Montreal based ATMA Classique label in 1994<\/strong>. The company’s catalogue includes more than 550 releases, which have been shipped to over 25 countries worldwide. Many ATMA Classique recordings have won Juno and Felix Awards, and the artist roster includes luminaries such as conductor Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin<\/strong>, l’Orchestre M\u00e9tropolitain, Les Violons du Roy, soprano Karina Gauvin, and l’Orchestre Symphonique de Qu\u00e9bec, among others. With a focus on classical music, ATMA Classique’s eclectic catalogue includes traditional and contemporary repertoire, along with tango and Neapolitan song.<\/p>\n Goyette will play a role in the new company in artistic planning and act as record producer, while the current team of Michel Ferland, Director, Production and Communications, and M\u00e9lissa Archambault, Director, Sales and Marketing, will handle day-to-day operations.<\/p>\n In a media release, Goyette says that finding a good fit that would preserve existing artists and their catalogues was important. \u201cAfter having dedicated 25 years to establishing ATMA Classic as a world-renowned company, I wanted to ensure a business transfer that would guarantee the label\u2019s continuity while also stimulating the development of new ideas, and I am pleased to have found this possibility with Guillaume Lombart and Ad Litteram,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n The deal was aided by financing from SODEC<\/strong>, Quebec\u2019s cultural business development agency.<\/p>\n ATMA Classique’s latest round of releases include soprano Karina Gauvin<\/a><\/span>‘s recording of opera favourites of the 18th century Russian court on March 27, the work of little known Canadian composer Auguste Descarries<\/a><\/span> on April 3, and on April 17, releases of French composer Marin Marais<\/a><\/span> and Telemann concertos and overtures by the Arion Orchestre baroque<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n Want more updates on classical music and opera news and reviews?
