The National Ballet of Canada has appointed Maria Seletskaja as its first-ever Conductor-in-Residence.<\/p>\n

A former Ballet Dancer, Seletskaja brings a unique perspective to the two-year term appointment.<\/p>\n

Born in Estonian Seletskaja was the former principal dancer with the Royal Ballet of Flanders, Staatsballett Berlin, Z\u00fcrich Ballet and Estonian National Ballet.<\/p>\n

While dancing professionally, Seletskaja also studied music at the Berklee College of Music. In 2013, she began conducting piano rehearsals at the Royal Ballet of Flanders. In 2016, she began conducting full-time, making her debuts at the National Ballet of Georgia and Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra. She was selected as one of five participants for a conducting course with Paul Murphy at the Royal Opera House in May 2019.<\/p>\n
